Red Dog Designs Red, White & BOOM!

It's getting late, I know I know!  But I have one more polish to share with you tonight.  I'll admit, the summer has me pretty busy with kids and activities and enjoying some leisurely down time.  So I've got to get in posts when I can!  Hope you don't hide too much.  Well I wanted to share this one because if you are looking for a polish for Saturday and possibly get rush shipping you can get this one in time!  Red Dog Designs just released Red, White & BOOM! in her shop and it's a really awesome polish.  Even if you can't get it for the 4th, you will love it for any other patriotic holiday that calls for red, white and blue!  You can get Red, White & BOOM! now and it's $10.  Let's check it out!

Red, White & BOOM! is a mix of "various sized hex glitters, in shades of holo blue, holo red and white; with mini white stars, sprinkle with navy and holo micro glitters."  This is a full coverage glitter.  You do not need a base coat to build up to opacity.  Though you could use a base color and go for a lighter glitter look.  But if I'm going glitter I like to go big so I layer it on itself.  Red, White & BOOM! is actually a thick formula, because of all the glitter in the polish.  But it's not difficult to manage and I only needed 2 coats to completely cover my nails.  The only thing I would note is that any stars you pull out in the first coat will get covered in the next.  So either try paint around the stars to not cover them, or only get them on your nails in the last coat.  I topped my mani with 2 layers of topcoat for a smooth to the touch finish.

Sweet Heart Polish Celebration Collection

Good evening!  I HAD to share this post with you now, I just couldn't wait until tomorrow.  Ok, probably because this totally fun and gorgeous collection is launching tomorrow morning, but really more so because I love how my swatches turned out and who doesn't love celebrating Disneyland!?  Sweet Heart Polish is at it again with her fabulous Disney inspired collections and this one is AWESOME!  If you're a Disney fan you know that this July Disneyland is celebrating it's 60th year - called the Diamond Celebration.  Cassandra, who is a huge Disneyland fan, just like me, wanted to celebrate the occasion too so she came up with the Celebration Collection!  It's 5 holo glitter polishes that you can layer over anything and with each other to create some awesome looks!  You can pick up the Celebration Collection tomorrow (7/1) at 9am PST.  So I don't want to talk your ear off - let's just get into polish since it's already late!

Up first is Main Street USA.  I went with this one first because it's the first place you see when you enter the park.  I love the atmosphere here, you're immediately hit with the smells of popcorn and burros, the laughter of children and adults.  It screams Americana to me.  Main Street USA is a blend of red holo glitters and red holo mouse head glitters.  I found the formula perfect.  I had zero issues getting glitters out and they spread out on my nails nicely.  I used 2 coats of Main Street USA over Sweet Heart Polish Summer Moon (a light grey holo).  I finished with a layer of topcoat.

After you go through Main Street USA you have some decisions.  Go straight ahead and hit up the castle, or veer to the right or left.  I went to the left and took us to Adventureland (because it's family tradition to always hit up Pirates of the Caribbean first)!  Adventureland is a  blue holo glitter and blue holo mouse head glitter combo that definitely reminds me of that area of the park.  Mainly because of the Jungle Cruise and Pirates of the Caribbean (rides that float on water).  Adventure screams water and sky to me so blue was the fitting color for the polish/land match up.  Again the formula was really wonderful.  The glitter was plentiful and required no work to get out of the bottle.  I applied 2 coats of Adventureland over Summer Moon and finished with a layer of topcoat.

Heading away from Adventureland and more towards the center of the park and we are now entering Frontierland.  This is all wild west, saloons, mine trains, shooting depot, ranch bbq and barn animals. Frontierland conjures up images of dirt and dust and cowboys, so the earthy (but rich) gold color is perfect for it's namesake part of the park.  Frontierland is a blend of gold holo glitters and gold holo mouse head glitters.  Much like the last 2, the formula was stellar.  Easy to work with and apply.  No fishing needed to get the larger glitters out.  I used 3 coats of Frontierland over Summer Moon and 1 layer of topcoat.

Well now we are back to the center of the park and have arrived at Fantasyland.  This is probably everyone's favorite area of the park.  All the whimsical rides that remind you of your childhood are here.  Peter Pan's Flight, Pinocchio, Dumbo, Alice In Wonderland, the Tea Cups, etc...  Also, this is where the Princesses' reside.  With purple being a regal color, it totally works for Fantasyland.  Fantasyland is a mix of purple holo glitters and purple holo mouse head glitters.  This one seemed to be a bit thinner than the others and I did have to do a bit of coaxing to get the bigger glitters out.  But as you can see from my pictures I fared well and was pleased with the glitter coverage.  I used 2 coats of Fantasyland over Summer Moon.  1 layer of topcoat to smooth things up.

Lopping around to the right of the park is the futuristic Tomorrowland.  This is the home of Space Mountain and Star Tours, park staples!  When I put Tomorrowland on it also had that futuristic/robot/Tron feel that I get when I'm in this section of the park.  So yep, I totally get this pairing.  Tomorrowland is a mix of silver holo glitters and silver holo mouse head glitters.  We are back to that fantastic formula that was easy to work with and applied like a glitter-dream.  I used 2 coats of Tomorrowland over Summer Moon and finished up with a layer of topcoat.

With the 4th of July right around the corner I thought it would be fun to layer a few of the Celebration Collection for a nice red, white and blue mani!  I LOVE HOW THIS TURNED OUT!  I started with Summer Moon again, then layered Main Street USA, Adventureland and Tomorrowland.  It's a mega blingy, mega patriotic mani!

Smitten Polish Summer 2015 Neon Flakies

Good morning friends!  It's Friday, do your happy dance!  Hopefully you have weekend plans to get out there and enjoy some sunshine and fresh air.  I will definitely enjoy soaking up some rays out on the soccer fields as I am in a tournament.  Saturday will be an especially long day as I have 3 games, then 2 more on Sunday.  So wish me luck!  As for today, I have a fabulous new collection to share with you.  MORE neon flakies from Smitten Polish.  The last set (which you can see HERE) was so amazing I may have let out an audible squee when I saw the new additions!  These are freaking fantastic!  Alright, the details you want to know.  The Summer 2015 neon flakies will be available for pre-order (24 hour period) on 7/1 at 2pm CST.  Alright, are you ready to see swatches?  I am definitely ready to share them so let's go!  While you peruse pictures I am going to sneak off and start hydrating and carbo-loading for the long weekend of soccer games.

Here's a quick skittle mani to show you the 4 new colors!  They are so bright and vibrant, absolutely perfect for the summer!  The flakies give all 4 polishes that amazing glow that just reels me in and renders me useless.  All the pictures in this post are in direct sunlight.

Smitten Polish Summer 2015 Neon Flakies

This is Pool Noodle, a neon pink full of flakies that take on a golden iridescent look in the base.  I love it.  It's the perfect shade of pink and brightness.  Plus the flakies add so much depth to the polish.  The formula was really fabulous, creamy and opaque.  I used 2 coats of Pool Noodle and 1 layer of topcoat.

As much as I loved Pool Noodle, you know my heart belongs to orange.  Jar Of Sunshine is a juicy neon orange full of iridescent flakies that take on a golden/green shifting color in the base.  This reminds me of a freshly squeezed glass of orange (or tangerine) juice.  Jar Of Sunshine is bright and beautiful!  The formula was great, creamy and opaque.  Application was a dream.  Great coverage with 2 coats and 1 layer of topcoat.

Out of the 4 in this collection, Ice Pop Paradise really stood out to me as the most unique.  It's a perfect shade of purple (leaning blurple) with iridescent flakies that appear blue-green against the base color.  The contrast of colors are totally swoon worthy.  Ice Pop Paradise leans a bit more to the jelly consistency of the last neon flakies but that makes it all the more great with it's fabulous squishiness.  Application was a piece of cake.  I used 3 coats and 1 layer of topcoat.

And lastly we have Lazy River.  This is an amazing teal leaning green full of iridescent flakies that appear to shift between gold and green in the base.  Looking at this color makes me want to jump into a inner tube and float on down a lazy river, preferably with a nice cold adult beverage in one hand and a water gun in the other.  Lazy River also had jelly-like formula but covered amazingly well in 2 coats.  I finished with 1 layer of topcoat.  Please take note that Lazy River is ever more green and vibrant than I was able to capture in my photos so the bottle you purchase/wear will look slightly different than this (dang teal is just one of those colors that isn't easy to capture in pictures).
