Born Pretty Store: Hollow Nail Art Stencils

Good morning lovelies!  I have a fun art post for you today and I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.  I've slowly been adding more art to my repertoire and I find it really fun.  Today's post features nail stencils from Born Pretty Store.  This was actually my first time trying stencils and it did take a little playing around to get it just right...I'll get into that more once we hit the actual post.  These Hollow Nail Art Stencils are available HERE and are only $1.59 USD a sheet.  You can also save 10% using my code JTOW10.  So let's jump in and check these stencils out!

So as I mentioned before these are stencils not vinyls, though they are similar (or the same) material.  Instead of covering a portion of the nail, they cover the entire nail.  But just like the vinyls you paint over and remove them.

Simple enough directions, though I'm not sure what the oil is that's referred to in step 1.

The stencil was easy to peel off the plastic sheet.

I centered the pattern on my nail and pressed the stencil sticker down to cover my entire nail

Throw a little polish over the stencil.

I didn't wait for it to completely dry but I did wait a few minutes.

And it was kind of a mess.  I had to use a brush to clean up splotches and redraw in lines.  So I had to think about what I did wrong.  Hmmm....

AH-HA!  I figured out what I did that was causing me from having a nice, solid pattern on my nails.  I didn't push the stencil down hard enough.  I mean you really have to press and rub this thing on your nails pretty hard.  I used my thumb nail to push the stencil into the corners and creases.  Then I did a lighter coat of polish on top of the stencil.  When I peeled the stencil up I literally gasped at how cool the pattern looked!

Isn't it a fun mani!?  I totally love it!  Now that I know how to use the stencils I can't wait to do more nail art with them.
